Services for the Public

An aim of NCOF is to be an asset not only to specialist marine operators and scientists, but to the public in general.

Penzance Sea Front Takes a Pounding

NCOF science already underpins the UK's National Tide and Sea Level Facility and Storm Tide Forecasting Service, which are used to monitor and warn against flooding by the sea in coastal communities.

The OSTIA sea surface temperature product forms an element of the system used to produce the weather forecasts that we all receive.

Through European projects and government agencies NCOF is working to bring more of our forecast capability to the general public. To see a selection of the forecasts and services NCOF are involved in, see our Demonstrations pages on this site and the ESSC Godiva pages.
